How to Repair a Chipped Tooth

June 28, 2011

If you have a chipped tooth or several chipped teeth, you know how much of an eyesore they can be. Additionally, chipped teeth can continue to break and wear down from everyday function, such as biting and chewing, increasing your risk of tooth decay and possibly needing root canal therapy.

To repair a chip in your tooth, you must go to a dentist who provides both health and cosmetic treatment. If it’s a tiny chip, it’s possible that it could be smoothed out with very little time and cost. If the chip is larger, however, it may be repaired with dental bonding.

If the chip is deeper, veneers may be the best option to correct the flaw, but if the chip is very deep or large, a full crown may be needed to protect your tooth from further damage and infection. Also, a crown will sustain your tooth and keep it strong and fully functional.

Dr. Brad Greenfield uses holistic restorations when possible, so he will work with you to come up with the most conservative solution that best fits your dental needs. Call Lake Orion Family Dentistry at (248) 693-6213 to reserve your appointment for tooth restoration.
