Just one missing tooth can wreak havoc on your mouth, producing alignment issues, shifting of teeth, and contributing to additional tooth loss. Dr. Greenfield offers several options to replace missing teeth. Fixed bridges, as well as dentures and partials, can restore your smile, health, and confidence.

The Dental Bridge

A bridge is a custom appliance that replaces one or more missing teeth. A fixed bridge anchors to neighboring teeth. Dr. Greenfield will secure the bridgework to the teeth adjacent to the space left by the missing teeth. The teeth the bridge attaches to are called abutment teeth, and they’ll permanently hold the prosthetic in place.

Partial and Full Dentures

To replace all teeth on the upper or lower arch, you will need a full set of dentures. Dentures consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base, and are held in place by suction or adhesive cream. If you have some healthy, natural teeth in your mouth, Dr. Greenfield may recommend a partial denture, which fits between existing teeth, and closes the gaps in your smile. Although you will have to get used to the feel of wearing your dentures, dentures look and feel more like natural teeth today than ever before. As a result, you can enjoy eating the foods you love and smiling with confidence.

Implant-Retained Dentures

For optimal stability, some patients choose implant-supported dentures and partials. For implants, small, metal posts are placed into the tooth sockets in your jawbone. Your prosthetic is fitted with snaps that attach to the implant posts, so you’ll simply snap the appliance into place to complete your smile. Implant-retained dentures require no natural suction or adhesive, and with proper care, implants can last the rest of your life.
