Healthy recipient of a dental bridge

Bridges, Partials, and Dentures

Replacement Teeth

Just one missing tooth can wreak havoc on your mouth, producing alignment issues, shifting of other teeth, and contributing to additional tooth loss. Dr. Greenfield offers several options to replace missing teeth. Fixed bridges, as well as dentures and partials, can restore your smile, health, and confidence

The Dental Bridge

A bridge is a custom appliance that replaces one or more missing teeth. A fixed bridge anchors to neighboring teeth. Dr. Greenfield will secure the bridgework to the teeth on either side of the space left by missing teeth. The teeth the bridge attaches to are called abutment teeth, and they’ll permanently hold the prosthetic in place.

Partial and Full Dentures

To replace all teeth on the upper or lower arch, you will need a full set of dentures. Replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base, dentures are held in place by suction or adhesive cream. If you have some healthy, natural teeth in your mouth, Dr. Greenfield may recommend a partial denture, which fits between existing teeth and closes the gaps in a smile. Though you will have to get used to the feel of wearing your dentures, today more than ever before, dentures look and feel like natural teeth, so you can enjoy eating the foods you love and smiling with full confidence.

Implant-Retained Dentures

For optimal stability, some patients choose implant-supported dentures and partials. For implants, small, metal posts are placed into the tooth sockets in your jawbone. Then, your prosthetic is fitted with snaps to fit on the implant posts. You’ll simply snap the appliance in place to complete your smile. Implant-retained dentures require no natural suction or adhesive, and with proper care, implants can last the rest of your life.
